Frank had us (the crew from Natural Fly Fishing) out for a day of bull trout fishing on a wilderness river. Please sit back and enjoy. If you have ever fished with Frank at the Fraser River Lodge, let us know in the comments. If you want to :) well, let us know as well!
In order to attempt to protect dwindling Mountain Caribou numbers the government has decided that a wolf cull is required. Habitat changes have made the mountain caribou a prey item for wolves – previously unable to access alpine (and sub-alpine) areas in winter were the caribou congregate. The controversy arises from the idea that if habitat is not being restored at a high enough rate, then wolves will simply return to fill the vacuum. So what do you think? Is this a good short-term strategy if it coincides with a habitat restoration plan or will this cull need to be done annually? If so, is there support for this type of management?
